TRASHCAN SINATRAS COTTIER THEATRE, GLASGOW, NOVEMBER 5
Rating: *****
This performance was one of the band's tightest and most relaxed in ages. Even the normally restrained Frank Reader stepped out from the sanctuary of his microphone to scoop the worst dancer in Glasgow on a Friday night award.
The Trashcans have been guilty of ignoring much of their magnificent early material but - despite promoting new record Weightlifting - they reminded us how wonderful first album Cake was.
Classics such as Only Tongue Can Tell and January's Little Joke weaved majestically into new favourites Got Carried Away, Leave Me Alone and the sublime All the Dark Horses. Finale Weightlifting was superb.
