MAIL MUSIC: TRASHCAN SINATRAS GARAGE, GLASGOW, JANUARY 21 *****

These veteran indie boys put together a set of mellow and melodic songs. A packed out venue welcomed the angsty Easy Read and more upbeat All The Dark Horses. Singer Francis Reader made jokes about the honour of being listed the 22nd best Scottish band ever in a recent poll.

Their line-up meant it was rare to see less than four guitars playing. This produced nice texture on tracks such as Weightlifting. I've Seen Everything saw the band playing rocky riffs, while Wild Mountainside kept things simple. The best was Hayfever but duet The Sleeping Policeman was dogged by sound problems.
