Trashcan Sinatras
Weightlifting (spinART)
Rating: 3/5
The defining characteristic of this long-running Scottish indie band is its light touch. Less Belle and Sebastian than Fountains of Wayne on codeine, the Sinatras' first album in eight years is chock-full of well-textured pop reveries. Weightlifting is so melodic and breezy that the grim true-crime narrative "Trouble Sleeping" sounds like a daydream.
