i think where this is heading is down the path of 2 live dvds for starters.
one will be the midnight troubadour show from 10/8/04, and probably include some bonus tracks (such as unreleased kcrw videos, march 2004 troubadour show). the midnight show is basically done being edited but the pro tools mix is still in progress. it will be a region free dvd and in ntsc format. i'd like to get it done by the end of the year but we'll see how that goes.
the second dvd would be the glasgow abc show from june 2005 with some bonus tracks (possibly from last week in falkirk). it would be a region free dvd in pal format. i'd also like to get this done by the end of the year, but we'll see. jim.video is hard at work...but no pressure, jim!
both concerts and bonus footage were shot with 5+ cameras, so they should be more interesting to watch than some of the old videos.
for those of you that don't know, ntsc is the video format used in north america and japan and pal is the format used in the uk and most of europe. my experience is that most dvd players and computers can play both formats, but it's possible that someone in the usa may not be able to play a pal dvd, or someone in the uk might not be able to play an ntsc dvd. but instead of making the same concert available in pal and ntsc, we decided to go with two different concerts so anyone who wants a dvd will at least be able to get one.
a compilation dvd is still possible but it's too much work to put together from all of the available footage, so we decided that first focusing on specific concerts would be more efficient and better quality.
i'll let people know when there is more info, but let me know if you have any questions.
i was on the brink of writing something really, really great when my pen ran out of...
